BONZO!

My introduction to George Studdy's Bonzo (1922) was at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con of all places. My favorite booth in the whole show is a guy that brings stuff. It almost doesn't matter what kind of stuff it is - its all old and all amazing... The two on the right where picked up without hesitation. The second little guy from ebay and the second big guy from the same SD Con seller this time in 2009. He said "You'll never see another one of these..." after I threw out a lower price I countered with "Yes, I will. I already have one - I got it from you!"... He took the lower offer... He's right, I have only ever seen the the bigger version twice - the two I have... You come across the smaller guys once in awhile... (Maybe the dealer is making these in his garage) The smaller ones are stamped 1926 if I recall... unglazed bisque/ cold painted made in Germany. Picked up two books on Bonzo after first seeing him... If you can't tell from his face this dog likes to get drunk, smoke cigars and sleep when he's not getting in to trouble...
